VOLUME MUSIC MAGAZINE

INITIAL MAGAZINE IDEAS
For my magazine front cover page I have planned on using simple and organised front cover which is simple and not too 'in the readers face' which I believe would intrigue the reader into wanting to find out more about the magazine.
I plan on having the usual information that a music magazine has on it, for example barcode, issue number, date price etc.
I plan on having a photo of 1 artist stood in front of a white wall doing something quirky / posing for the camera.
I plan on shooting this photo on a white screen to add the effect of importance to the artist putting more emphasis and attention on them.
I plan on having the title of the magazine across the top of the page above the artists head and I also plan on covering up the title with the artist’s hair to show confidence and professionalism within my work.
I plan on having a skyline on my front cover which has prizes / free giveaways to win within the magazine.
I plan to use cover lines of stories relating to rock / indie music artists and bands like interviews, reviews and line ups for upcoming music concerts.
I also plan on having a secondary skyline, but across the bottom of the front cover, which mainly has artists / band names which are going to appear in the magazine.
I also plan on having a secondary image on the front cover which is not going to be used to take the importance away from the main image, but is still going to be effective by informing the audience about what is going to be in the magazine.
FRONT COVER
Here is a rough idea of how I want my magazine front cover style / structure to look. This gives me a basic understanding of where I want everything to be placed on the magazine front cover and roughly how big I want everything to be.
DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD

Title / Logo
For my double page spread I have planned on using a simple and organised structure which is in keeping with the simple and less crowded style I am aiming to keep throughout my magazine.
I plan on using another photo of the main artists / the model which takes up at least half of the page emphasising the importance of the artists / model in the story. I plan on using a long shot therefore the whole of the artist can be seen on the page.
I plan on using a simple main body of text which is organised into columns with quotes from the interview in the middle of the text.
I plan on using a big title of the artist / models name across the top of the page immediately grabbing the readers eye and informing the audience who the artist is.
I plan on using overhead high key lighting on a white screen to create shadows off of my model / artist giving the photo a more realistic and professional.
The title / logo of the magazine which I believe is the best name is Volume or tempo. This is because I believe these two titles link in with the theme of music the best. I believe I am going to use the title Volume as the overall title because this title will fit nicely across the top of my magazine and I believe I can add effects of volume bars over my title again linking it to music.

I want to add effects of volume bars, like in this image, onto my title because I believe this will give my overall title a better feel to the music magazine. I also believe using the volume bars on one letter of the word will give the magazine a logo / trademark symbol for the whole magazine.

CONTENTS PAGE
For my contents page I have planned on using a simple effective layout which is again in keeping with the simplicity used on the Magazines Front Cover and Double Page Spread. I plan on keeping the text organised and easily set out for the audience to understand and read.
I plan on using a 3rd photo of my artist which again stands out to the audience indicating that the main story for this week’s issue is about this artist.
I plan on shooting the photo on a white screen to emphasise the image to the audience and to also create the effect of a shadow on the artist giving them a more mysterious intriguing look.
I plan on having my main body of text across the right side of the page in columns again making the magazine look professional and organised.
I plan on having a big title / masthead called 'CONTENTS' across the top of the page, which would immediately indicate to the audience which page they are on.
The typeface I am planning on using will be a sophisticated font which is in keeping with the rest of the font used on my other two pages.
I plan on splitting my contents page text into four columns, one for features, one for reviews, one for my main story and one for every month features which will look similar to a professional magazines structure.
